Setting Sharepoint as a sub-domain

Anyone know how to adjust where IIS places sharepoint after it has been installed.

What I am interested in setting up is http://wsps.mydomain.com rather than having it always fight with Apache over who is http://www.mydomain.com

I have looked around. but cannot seem to find anything in the help files or online so far.
