    Windows Domain Administrator account

We currently run a Novell e-directory tree that feeds into an active directory for single sign on and other administrative purposes. The e-directory admin account is called admin, the active directory domain admin account is called administrator. If i log on to a domain member desktop as administrator i need to logon to e-directory with the admin account and then logon to the windows domain part with the administrator account i.e. i need to change the account field from admin to administrator to log onto the windows part.

My question is can i rename the active directory domain admin account from administrator to admin without breaking anything? I think i can but just wanted to know if their might be any adverse consequences.

The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself.

why not just create a new administrator account in Novell :) just make it equal to the admin account.

Wink I never had a problem with renaming user accounts. I often have request when a user is leaving the company and they need a replacement to be included in the same groups as was the old user, what I do is I just rename the account of the old user to the new one and he/she will have the same permissions. Renaming the account won't have any security impart, even on servers have services that use the domain\admin account to start.
